Trevor began painting six years ago when he was invited by a friend, to join one of her informal art workshops. He was hesitant at first as he knew he would be a ˜thorn amongst the roses’. Nevertheless, he went along for a few months and thus discovered a love for oil painting.
The love of painting has now become an obsession and the neighbours cannot help having a quick look into the garage as they drive by his house, wondering if they’ll see Trevor there in his usual position sitting on the bonnet of the car painting at his easel. They’re always in luck.
In 2009 Trevor joined the Redcliffe Art Society as he wished to become more involved in the local art community. He attends as many art exhibitions as possible in an endeavour to gain a greater understanding and appreciation of art.
He attended art classes tutored by Gwynneth Boyce at the Redcliffe Art Society for a few years and although continuing with his preference for oil painting, has changed from canvas to board. For the moment anyway, he is not embedded in any particular style, he just paints anything and everything that gives him pleasure.
As a relatively novice artist, he has been fortunate to have sold over 30 paintings during the six years he’s been involved in the art community. He has also been commissioned to undertake oil paintings of three private residences.
His hobbies include sailing – he has raced yachts all of his adult life and has participated in the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race eight times, twice in his own yacht. He was also a keen surfer, squash player, played tennis and continues to cycle on a regular basis. He has travelled extensively and enjoys photography whenever he has the opportunity.
